Why
We are used to things going at 100+ tok/s. A cloud provider provisions a PostgreSQL database at 1 instance/minute on a good day.
Speed is quality.
There are only a few speeds that matter:
- Instant: like pressing a keystroke
- 200ms: the boundary for a page load
- 5 seconds: enough time to command+tab away
- 1 minute and more: context switching
You and your agents should provision things instantly. I know this sounds like a "the pre-departure almonds in first class were not warmed up" type of problem. I think it is the cutting edge.
