Common wisdom is probably right when it reminds us to not reinvent the wheel. But sometimes half the fun of going somewhere is getting there.
I spent a lot of my life rushing to get somewhere, to be good enough. And I did a lot of that with computers.
Don't reinvent the wheel is the right answer most days. But if you "don't re-invent the wheel" enough times, remember who you were and who you are, and notice that some mornings you wake up in the mood to vulcanize rubber.
